How To Do Black Mold Removal & Cleanup

If you have recently discovered some black mold growing in your home, aside from just covering it with bathroom blinds for visitors not to see then you’re probably wondering how to get rid of mold. Really, that depends on how big the mold growth is, whether you can do it yourself or leave it up to the grout cleaning or black mold cleanup professionals.  If the black mold spots are pretty small, then that is a project that you can definitely do yourself, but if it has grown quite big, then I would definitely recommend calling in the professionals.  Good for those areas which are made of black galaxy granite because the mold doesn’t grow in there. You can usually get a free analysis and quote for how much it will cost to clean up.  You can try a few different companies to see what they are charging, and then make a decision.  Some companies will even tell you that it is a job that you can do yourself.

The first thing you’ll want to do is to buy a mold cleaner from the store.  Any hardware store or grocery store should have them, probably in the cleaning aisle.  Then, when you get home, make sure to protect yourself.  Proper eye wear, a surgical mask so that you don’t breath in the mold spores that may become airborne, and of course gloves.  I would also suggest wearing old clothes so that your good clothes aren’t exposed to mold, or damaged by the cleaning agent.

Next, you will want to make sure that you wet down the mold area with a sponge or a wet rag.  If the mold is dry when you begin scrubbing it, it can be released into the air, and if you inhale it you can suffer some pretty rough respiratory problems.  Next, you’ll simply follow the instructions on the bottle of the mold cleaner, but it will probably be something like spray the area, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub hard until the mold is removed and repeat if necessary.

It really is that simple if the mold spot isn’t too big, and you take the proper safety precautions.
